MILDLY SPICY MOVES offers participants the proven benefits of dance for anyone with a mobility challenge. Mildly Spicy Moves is a celebration of movement through dance & music! No previous dance experience required.
Participants are encouraged to work at their own pace. Whether standing, sitting or moving, all dances are modified to meet your individual abilities and range of motion. Seated, standing or moving across the floor, participants explore elements of Latin dance moves. We mambo, cha cha, salsa, even do some Broadway, jazz and simple hip hop moves.
The class is inclusive, welcoming, fun, and friendly. Open to men and women of all ages. Caregivers are welcome at no additional cost.
About the instructor: Miriam Goldberger is founding teacher and executive director of What Dance Can Do, a health based arts organization in Central Ontario. Her passion is to share the joy of dance with those experiencing mobility challenges. She has a B.A. in Dance from Goucher College, has studied Dance Therapy at Lesley University in Boston and the Haliburton School of the Arts; Miriam founded Preggae Woman, Canada's first pre-natal/postpartum movement and support program in Toronto and is an advanced Dance for Parkinson's instructor through Canada's National Ballet School and the Mark Morris Dance Group in NY. Mildly Spicy Moves is offered through ART YOUR SERVICE, a virtual community center for older adults. This innovative subscription service offers creative virtual and social programs for older adults.
